Seeing a spider working on the construction of a web is a lesson in cleverness and engineering! First, the spider lets out a thread in the air. Hope it sticks somewhere farther away like a bridge. Then he walks on top of it and, going down, puts on other wires, well stretched. It ties them to a central point. These strands form the so-called web rays. After placing the rays, she walks over them in a spiral. It sticks, from radius to radius and with precision, a different thread. It is full of glue droplets. This is where the insects the spider eats will attach themselves. In the end, she sometimes decorates the web to attract her prey: she weaves a silk band and places it near the center, in a zigzag pattern. Remember that spiders of different species do not make the same webs. Ah! A curiosity: the giant spiders, which live near the roofs of houses, build a silk tube at the top of the web that serves as a refuge. When they feel threatened, they run into it and are protected!
