Dialogues

He phoned in great distress.
─ I need to make an appointment, it's not for me, it's for my daughter.
─ How old is your daughter?
─ Fifteen years.
─ Does she want to come?
─ Want, want…
They arrive at the appointment ahead of time. Agitated, he talks a lot, this is my daughter, I want him to talk to her, to convince her not to travel.

The girl, teenager, sullen, chin jutted up, mouth clenched with determination.
─ Shall we go in? Ana invites them both.
─ No, no, she enters alone.
The girl gets up and goes to the consultation room.
─ What brought you here?
─ Nothing, I have nothing to say, I have nothing to discuss, I didn't want to come, I don't need to come here. I already told my father.
─ But since you came, couldn't you tell what it is about?
─ I want to travel, meet my mother who lives abroad, I want to go live with her. My parents are separated, he doesn't want to leave me, but I go anyway.
─ Did you try to talk to him?
─ It's no use, he doesn't want to hear it, and that's why my mother left and I don't want to talk about it anymore.
(Would she be repeating her mother's gesture, leaving without conversation, without explanation?)
─ It seems that dialogue is not welcome in her house.
─ No, get up to leave, that's not it.
─ Maybe you wanted your father to talk to you, instead of bringing you to talk to a psychologist you neither know nor asked to meet.
This is the only time Maria actually looks at Ana.
─ That's right, she says and heads for the door. In the waiting room, Ana tells her father:
─ Your daughter wants you to talk to her, wants to be heard by you, not me. She has nothing to say to me, but she has a lot to say to you.
─ No, no, I don't know how to talk to her, I don't understand what she says, she's just like her mother, that's why I brought her here, so you can talk to her.
─ So let's talk together?
─ No, I can't. They get up and leave, never to return.
