The astronomical explanation is that only in regions where the sun's rays reach the ground very inclined in relation to the vertical can it get cold enough to snow. Near the poles, the sun's rays hit the ground almost grazing, heating it up a little and leaving the temperature in place many degrees below zero.
With this in mind, geographers divided each hemisphere into three zones: tropical, temperate and polar. The tropical zone, in which most of Brazil is inserted, is limited by two imaginary lines called the tropics: the tropic of Capricorn (in the southern hemisphere) and the tropic of Cancer (in the hemisphere North). In the tropical zone, the seasons are not so different from each other, as the sun's rays always reach this region with great intensity.
In Brazil and other tropical countries, what is more clearly perceived is a rainy season and a drier one. Summer is usually hot and rainy and winter is not too cold, but it is dry. The proximity to the equator is therefore the reason why snow does not fall in most of Brazil. However, the inhabitants of some cities in the south of the country can sometimes see white flakes of snow fall from heaven because they are already in the temperate zone, as well as most of North America and Europe.
