For scientists, the brain has a good explanation for this choice of left or right. If there was no automatic preference, both sides of the body would be equally capable and could enter into dispute when starting any activity, such as walking, picking up food, throwing a ball or picking up a pencil to write.
Can you imagine having to waste time deciding which hand to pick a fruit with when you're leaving for school in a hurry and hungry?! Automatic preference for one side of the body solves this problem. Thankfully, right?!
