In fact, bee stings do not cause disease. Some insects carry in their saliva tiny living beings (micro-organisms) that have the ability to live and multiply in the human body, causing disease. But to date, no microorganisms have been found in the saliva of our bees that cause disease.
What can happen is that the person has an allergy to bee venom. In this case, the sting site becomes red, painful and itchy a lot. There are more serious cases in which the person is full of red dots all over the body and may even lose breath, but this is, fortunately, very rare!
