What causes varicose veins?

Varicose veins are veins that can be wide, raised, very crooked and that are no longer working very well and appear mainly in the legs.

The veins in the legs carry blood back to the heart at the top. The muscles in the legs are helping the blood to rise! And he doesn't go back because there are valves, which are like little doors that open when the blood passes and close soon afterwards, preventing it from returning.

Over the years, these valves lose their strength, getting weaker and a little blood ends up coming back. This blood then starts to push against the wall of the veins, forming a bunch of curves in it, which we can even see through the skin. It's varicose veins!
