You, of course, to show the intensity of something, have already exaggerated in your narrative. This figure of speech is the hyperbole. This is an exaggeration in order to draw attention to the idea you want to convey.
The very meaning of the word hyperbole is “beyond”. That is, saying something beyond what she really is.
See too: Bad or bad.
Let's look at some examples now, and you'll remember.
Expressions such as:
Are you familiar with these expressions? So these are examples of hyperbole.
We use an example similar to the first in this list when talking about figures of speech in general. The exaggeration was used to express the fact that the girl spent much of the time in tears, lamenting her disappointment in love.
In the second example, the person did not spend hours in line at the supermarket. At most, a few minutes. Who goes to the supermarket if they could go to a mini box on the corner of their house to buy a matchbox? What the caller tried to express was the length of time it took to pay for the few goods purchased.
In the third example, Carlos is not swimming in money, but only with financial resources to spare. And the girl in question will probably not die laughing, as it would be an unusual death to say the least. And the last example is the most absurd.
Hyperbole is classified as a figure of thought. They give more expressiveness to words, through ideas.
The fact that “so-and-so tries to talk to cicrano trillions of times” obviously didn't happen. What happens is the combination of the words used and the idea that the person has tried to talk to the other many times. The person who tried to talk probably didn't check how many times they called. But, he expressed himself in this way to draw even more attention to the intensity of the act.
Thought figures seek to impact the message recipient, through ideas that are implicit and not true. They use the stimulation of the imagination to give it the idea of what it really wants to communicate.
Thus, the expression “I will be forever grateful to you” means that what the other person has done for them is priceless. It was something no other favors will pay in kind. However, one does not live eternally (at least not in this body) for this debt to be paid.
Anyway, this stylistic resource is one of the most used in our daily lives. It is almost impossible that anyone has ever had contact with these expressions.
The idea behind the fact is what a thought figure represents. Words with opposite meanings said or written with close proximity, attribution of rational act to beings irrational, expressions that soften the facts, and words that explicitly express the opposite of what if think. These are also language functions that fit into thought figures.
