the turtle and the hare

– Let's bet who gets there first where that tree is? asked the tortoise to the hare.

The hare laughed at her:

- You are crazy? Slow as you are! Remembering that I'm one of the fastest animals out there?

- Yes, I am. And I keep betting.

The hare knew she was capable of reaching the tree in four leaps.

- It's ok. Do not say that I did not warned you.

A prize was agreed and the hare let the tortoise go.

She grazed, listened to which way the wind was coming, slept – and in the meantime the tortoise went, in its solemn step. She was aware of her sluggishness and so she kept walking.

“This bet is unworthy of my dowries,” thought the hare.

– For the victory to have any value, only coming out at the last moment.

After all, when the tortoise was almost to the end agreed, it left like an arrow.

Too late. When he arrived, the turtle was already there. She had to give him the prize and, on top of that, congratulate him.

Persistent work is better than poorly used natural gifts.
