The heron could no longer catch fish easily. Due to his advanced age, his eyesight was so tired that he sometimes went whole days without eating. And it was on one of those days, when her stomach was roaring with hunger, that she had an idea. Seeing the frog approach, she wasted no time.
'You frog, you frog, tell the fish that the pond will be emptied. I learned that the owner of these lands is going to build a football field here. But before that, he will empty the pond and distribute the fish to the neighborhood - he said.
The frog dove into the pond and told the news to his scaled friends. The water in the lake, which was always calm, became rippled with the uproar caused by the news. The fish were bewildered and, fearing for their end, went to seek advice from the heron.
– Miss heron, what should we do to get rid of this tragedy?
− I well know that you fish cannot live outside of water. So my advice is to move to the well that's right there at the entrance to the farm.
− But that is impossible! We would have to cross many meters out of the water and we would die before reaching our destination.
− And what are friends for? I can carry you all in my beak. Gone are the days when I ate fish… Now I'm a vegetarian and I'm satisfied with pieces of grass - lied the heron.
With no other way out, the fish accepted the offer. With the help of the heron, they ended up in a small stone tank with very clear water. There, the old bird could fish them even with his eyes closed and, thus, he never went hungry again.
Advice from an enemy is not to be believed.
