It was in 1929, at the Animal Protection Congress in Vienna, Austria, that the day of S.'s death was declared. Francisco de Assis (the patron of animals) as World Animal Day. Since then, this date has been celebrated every year in several countries.
On October 15, 1978, the rights of animals were registered through the approval of the Universal Declaration of Animal Rights by UNESCO.
This declaration was proclaimed on October 15, 1978 and approved by UNESCO and later by the UN.
