Heidi, an orphan from a very young age, lives in a small town in Switzerland with her aunt Dete. When she receives an excellent job offer in Frankfurt, Germany, her aunt decides to deliver the girl, now aged 6, to his grandfather, an old man angry at the world, grumpy, who lives isolated on top of a mountain in the Alps Swiss. Upon arriving at her new home, Heidi soon falls in love with the wonderful landscapes, flowers and animals in the valleys and mountains, in addition to gaining a new friend, Pedro das Cabras, a shepherd boy. Over time, the girl conquers the villagers and, above all, her grandfather's heart, showing him that it is possible to be happy and find peace again. But that happiness disappears when Aunt Dete returns to take her to Frankfurt. Written in 1880, Heidi the girl from the Alps shows the contrast between wild and free life in the mountains, with its simple and essential values, and life in the big city, with very different customs, rules and values. The narrative follows the growth and learning of Heidi, and, without losing sight of the 136 years that separate our life today, in the 21st century, of the characters' lives, is a source of important discoveries and reflections for all of us.
