This is the story of two little feet.
One left foot and one right foot. Whoever looked that quickly didn't see much difference between them. I might think that one was the reflection of the other as in a mirror, but they were very different.
The left one had the fattest toe and liked football. The right was tickled to death and loved ballet.
The left one preferred to wear sneakers. Already the law, for him he lived barefoot.
The left one, very vain, was happy with cut nails. The right one, more sloppy, sometimes smelled like foot odor.
As the little feet depended on their owner, they were always making agreements:
– Okay, I'll go back at arabesque time, there in ballet class – said the left one. – But in football, I kick the ball.
- Nice. – agreed the right. – But when we're dancing, don't be complaining that the shoe is tight.
They always talked at night, when Mariana, their owner, slept. That way, they could understand each other better.
One night, Mariana lost sleep. While counting lambs, he heard a small voice saying:
– I hope she wears half a rose tomorrow.
The girl was startled. He lifted his head off the pillow, just in time to hear his right foot respond:
- Oh no. I like the ones with the blue stripes better.
Mariana couldn't believe what she saw and heard. The little feet continued:
– Did you forget that you have football class tomorrow? – the left one remembered. - She always wears pink socks when she goes to play.
– Damn, so go wear the cleats too. Then you complain if I smell like foot odor.
– I'll score a great goal, do you doubt it? – She boasted the left.
– No, I know what fun you see in football! - She sighed the right.
Mariana made a face like someone who had discovered America:
– So that's why I kick better with the left!
The little feet continued the conversation:
- Do not mind. In the afternoon, she goes to dance class and then you are happy.
– I'll do the best pirouette of my life, wait for me!
The girl was surprised once again:
– That's why I rock when I'm on the tip of my right foot!
Moved, Mariana thought about the effort her little feet were making to understand each other, despite the differences. She also thought about what it would be like if all people did the same.
She sank into the pillow and fell asleep.
The next morning, she decided to surprise her feet. On the left, she wore the pink sock and boot. On the right, the blue striped sock and the sneaker. She went to school like this, with one foot each way.
When she stepped into the classroom, her classmates started making fun of her. Mariana tried to explain that her feet were different from each other and that there was no problem with that. But the class didn't stop laughing.
Mariana discovered how difficult it was to be different. Just because she didn't wear the same shoes like everyone else, she had become a laughing stock. Dying with rage, she went to the library to cry.
Hidden behind a bookcase, she bent down to get closer to her feet. Stroking now the left, now the right, and she said:
– Don't mind these fools. I won't stop liking you guys just because you're different from each other.
I was at it when someone approached. Mariana looked through the crack in a shelf and all she saw was two feet. One was wearing sneakers. The other, with beach slippers.
The girl looked up in wonder. She ran into Edgar, her new schoolmate. He held out his hand saying:
– Don't cry, Mariana. No FOOT IS EQUAL TO THE OTHER.
The two of them went out into the courtyard. She didn't even care anymore about the noise of her colleagues. Mariana was just thinking of a way to introduce her feet to Edgar's feet.
