Anxious
The adjective is used to characterize people with anxiety, some momentary restlessness, impatience or concern. The word comes from the Latin “anxiosus”, which means precisely something like “anxiety”. Among the variations and adaptations that the word suffered in Portuguese, “anxious” and “anxiety” ended up being created.
Anxious can be used as a synonym for the following words: distressed, worried, nervous, restless, impatient, distressed, among others. Being used in the feminine it follows the same logic, modifying only the gender.

The adjective “anxious” not only has a connection with the word “anxious” but also its origin. It is formed by the derivation of the suffix “oso” to the noun “craving”.

The suffix “oso”, used in the formation of the word, is used to give meaning to something “full of”. In this case, an anxious person is “full of eagerness”, for example. There are other words in the Portuguese language that have been adapted with the suffix to give the same idea, such as tearful, friendly, courageous and witty.
