Traditional Christmas bread, Panettone is a kind of cake, filled with candied fruit and raisins. An indispensable delicacy in any supper, Panettone has a noble origin. At the end of 1395, the Duke of Milan, Gian Galeazzo Visconti, decided to celebrate the receipt of the ducal insignia with the creation of a very different bread. Being close to the Christmas season, the appearance of Panettone was linked to the idea of celebration and happiness. With the techniques of manufacture and conservation, Panettone has become popular all over the world (some have even been modified) but the original recipe uses the same ingredients as 500 years ago.
