Made up of the districts of Ravena, Carvalho de Brito and Mestre Caetano, Sabará is 19 km from the capital of Minas Gerais, integrating the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte.
Sabará preserves a lot of history in its streets, especially in the city center. 18th century mansions, churches and chapels enchant visitors with their magnificence. In the Architectural Complex on Rua D. Pedro II, the Solar do Padre Correa is highlighted and has hosted none other than D. Peter I and D. Peter II. Built in 1773, it has jacaranda wood staircases, carved from the third phase of Minas Gerais baroque, and serves as the city hall.
The city also has several fountains, and among them, the best known is the Fountain of Kaquende. Presenting Sabará with its refreshing waters, according to legend, those who drink its water will always return to the municipality. The Gold Museum still preserves objects associated with the gold mining period in Minas Gerais during the 18th century.
Sabará also has several cultural festivities. Land of jabuticaba, the city holds the famous Jabuticaba Festival every year. Between music, typical food and lots of dancing, the hospitable people of Sabara welcome all its visitors with pleasure. The Ora-Pro-Nóbis Festival is also held in the city and attracts tourists interested in the local cuisine.
