Understand the reason behind the two parties: one on April 21st and one on June 10th
Queen Elizabeth II completed this Easter Sunday, 21, 93 years. However, the monarch will celebrate the date again on June 10th. It is common for kings and queens to have two dates to celebrate the birth, and the tradition began with King George II in 1748.
When a birthday monarch was born during the winter, fall, or spring, the celebration was postponed until the next summer. The objective was to prevent the party from being held in very low temperatures, thus ensuring a sunny day or at least a more pleasant one for the Royal Family between the months of June and August.
In April, spring in England, temperatures usually range from 6°C to 20°C, while in June, the beginning of the In summer, thermometers mark an average of 11.4 °C to 23.5 °C - it is common these days to be hotter than the expected.
The tradition, which perpetuates ____ more than 250 years, has been maintained again this year. The queen celebrated in her palace another year of life with close friends and family on the “correct” date and in June the official party will take place.
On the second date, the ceremony is open to the public, and includes the queen's parade, called Trooping the Color (in free translation, grouping the color, in reference to the colors of the military regiments present at the meeting), with the participation of soldiers, British cavalry and military bands. In summer, more tourists are expected to flock to the streets of London to honor the monarch.
