NAME:
In the slaves' time, there was a very bad rancher, who carried everything on, screaming and puffing. In those ends of the world, he did as he pleased, without giving anyone satisfaction.
Among the slaves of resort there was a black boy, in charge of grazing some animals, something very common in the times when the fields of
resort they didn't know wire fence; at most there was only some stone fence erected by the slaves themselves, who could not stand still, to do not think nonsense… Moreover, the boundaries of the fields were those placed by God our Lord: rivers, hills, lagoons.Because once, the poor little black boy, who already lived in the greatest Jewish quarters in the hands of his boss, lost an animal in herding. For what! He caught a barbarity tied to a platform and, after falling, he was sent to look for the animal misplaced. As night was approaching, he grabbed a stub of candle and some fire planes, with smoke and all, and went out in the field. But nothing! The stub was over, the day came and he had to go back to the resort.
So he was again tied to the podium and this time he was beaten so badly that he died, or appeared to die. From there, the boss ordered the “pot” of an anthill to be opened and the little black boy's little body, all laced with bows and bathing in blood, thrown in there anyway.
The other day, the boss went with the peonada and the slaves to see the anthill.
What was his surprise when he saw Negrinho do Pastoreio: he was there, but standing, with smooth skin, without any marks from the lashes. Beside him, the Virgin of Our Lady, and further on the bay and the other horses.
The rancher threw himself on the ground asking for forgiveness, but the black boy didn't answer.
He just kissed the saint's hand, mounted the bay and left leading the troop.
Since then, Negrinho do Pastoreio has been the finder of lost things. And it doesn't charge much: just light a candle stub, or shoot it in any corner chunk of smoke.
