What does a beautician do? – Education and Transformation

One beautician works in a salon or spa, offering specialized treatments for clients' skin, in particular facials. They can also perform body treatments such as body wraps, massages, waxing, sweeteners, manicures and pedicures.

Estheticians have specialized knowledge of skin care products and can recommend a regimen. of home skin care, along with recommended products that would be appropriate for the client.

A beautician performs non-medical skin treatments. In some cases, they may work with dermatologists in their offices, but they are usually found in spa settings.

Skin therapies can be used as a relaxing treatment or to resolve a skin problem such as acne, eczema or dry skin. Relaxing skin therapies can include facials and massages, and these can be enjoyed by anyone simply looking for some personal time.

More targeted therapies, such as anti-aging treatments, have a specific audience, usually those concerned about the signs of aging starting to show on their faces. These types of therapies can include microdermabrasion treatments or mild acid peels, and aim to eliminate wrinkles and create a more youthful appearance. Anti-aging medical treatments such as botox must be performed by a physician and cannot be performed in a spa.

Estheticians can treat previously diagnosed skin conditions such as acne or eczema, but they are not allowed to diagnose unknown diseases and must refer clients to a specialist doctor, such as a dermatologist. Generally, a beautician aims to offer a client a relaxing and pleasant treatment, which resolve any skin problems the customer may have and improve the quality and appearance of their skin.
