To start with, the water flea has this name because it looks like the insect flea. Although their bodies are similar (and their heels too!), the water flea doesn't bother or bite anyone.
She is really tiny, born with about two millimeters and reaches a centimeter in length as an adult. As it is a crustacean – like shrimp and lobsters – the water flea can be found in aquatic environments, generally in lakes, rivers and even in small puddles.
