But, according to UN data from 2019, every 5 seconds, the world loses an amount of soil equivalent to a football field. At the current rate, more than 90% of all land on the planet could be degraded by 2050. If this forecast is confirmed, the land will become arid and stop generating food for more than 4 billion inhabitants, forcing migratory movements of millions of people.
