According to an Australian organization, while a group of scientists analyzed the country's grasses, eight new species were found that had never been cataloged before. But the biggest surprise was yet to come: during the night, on the way back to the laboratory, one of the researchers licked his hand, after handling one of the samples, and tasted vinegar and salt!
The group of researchers said that it is not uncommon for grasses to release proteins and sugars through tiny hairs on the stem. But, until then, none had shown a taste as characteristic as the species triodia scintillans. Still, the scientist who recorded the discovery warned: he doesn't recommend anyone going around licking grass!
