Water pollution corresponds to the process of pollution, contamination or deposition of waste in the water of rivers, lakes, streams, springs, in addition to seas and oceans. This is a highly serious socio-environmental problem because, although water is a renewable natural resource, it can become increasingly scarce. The main cause of water pollution is the unbridled development of economic activities, especially in cities, with the increase in the undue disposal of waste from the sewage system and sanitation. Another cause also mentioned is the incorrect disposal of garbage by the population, who throw objects into the watercourses due to sheer lack of environmental awareness.

a) Deposition of domestic and industrial sewage in rivers
b) Misuse of agricultural fertilizers
c) Use of pesticides
d) Conscious use of natural resources
