NAME:

Read:

Why are flamingos pink?

The pink feathers of the flamingos draw a lot of attention and make them considered one of the most beautiful birds in nature. They live in large groups and are always close to the water. They feed on small crustaceans that have a substance called carotenoid. It is this substance that leaves flamingos with this characteristic color.

Their food, therefore, is linked to the color of their feathers. If they didn't feed on crustaceans, flamingos would have white feathers. The flamingo's beak is large and curved precisely to help catch these crustaceans.
