Some research claims that dogs behave differently when they are presented with positive or negative emotions. That's why they approach us in different ways – they wag their tails at certain times or retreat to a corner at others. These studies also find that they distinguish human facial expressions, such as showing a smile or an expression of anger. And it seems that they go further: they recognize emotions even through their voices.
