Baraúna, also called braúna, is a typical Caatinga tree that can reach up to 15 meters in height. It is a plant used for different purposes: wood is used in the construction of houses, while fruits and bark of this tree has a medicinal function, whether for relieving toothaches or earaches, as well as syrup for cough.
During the dry season, when animals have little food in the Caatinga, the leaves and fruits of the baraúna are also used to feed goats, goats, sheep and sheep.
Baraúna fruits have a "wing" that helps disperse. When the wind hits the trees, they go flying and spinning like the blades of a helicopter propeller.
Baraúna is also important for honey production, as bees from the Caatinga love to visit its flowers. […]
