Syllable is one or more phonemes pronounced in a single voice, every syllable is based on a vowel.
The classification of syllables can vary in terms of the number of syllables, or the position of the stressed syllable.
– monosyllables: it has only one syllable (um, color, sun);
– disyllables: it has two syllables (ca-sa, key, organ, pi-pa);
– trisyllables: it has three syllables (ca-der-no, ca-ne-ta, ash-ro)
– polysyllables: it has more than three syllables (ma-ra-cu-ja, in-fe-liz-men-te).
stressed syllable it is the most intensely pronounced, the stressed syllable does not always have a graphic accent. According to the location of the stressed syllable we can classify the words as:
– oxytones: when the stressed syllable is the last in the word.

– paroxytones: when the stressed syllable is the penultimate of the word.

– proparoxytones: when the stressed syllable is the second-to-last of the word.

vowel encounter it is the union of vowels and semivowels.
– diphthong: it is the union in the same syllable, of a vowel and a semivowel or a semivowel and a vowel. Diphthongs can be:

CONSONANT MEETING
consonant meeting is the union of two or more consonants joined together without the presence of a vowel, both consonants being pronounced, they can be perfect or imperfect.
– perfect: when the consonants are in the same syllable

Digraph it is the meeting of two letters that are pronounced in a single sound, there are two types of digraphs, the consonant and the vowel.
