NAME:

Teenagers Discuss Criminal Age

The youth attitude supplement brought together eight teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, for a discussion about the criminal age of majority. All were in favor of the reduction.
The group believes that if a 16-year-old can vote, he can also be held liable for criminal acts. However, they agreed that this measure will not solve all the problems.
They discussed prison overcrowding, the lengthening of prison terms for juveniles in conflict with the law, and felt that adult prisons should be separated from juveniles.

They are also concerned that teenagers under the age of 16 are recruited by adults to commit crimes, but they believe that these teenagers would be more afraid of committing crimes, so as not to follow the example of young people over 16 years old who go to prison.
Furthermore, they do not agree that parents are held responsible for their children's actions. In the opinion of 15-year-old Ana Luiza Santana, improving the quality of education in Brazil should be the main concern of politicians.
