The baru or cumbaru (scientific name: Dipteryx alata) is the fruit of the baruzeiro, an imperious tree native to the Brazilian Cerrado. Unfortunately, _______ species is threatened due to predatory logging, which has recognized resistance and quality, with fungicidal properties. This imposing plant, with a dense crown, can reach more than 20 meters in height and its trunk reaches up to 70 cm in diameter. Its fruit is protected by a hard shell and, inside, there is an almond with a flavor similar to peanuts, with high nutritional value and much appreciated.
