On Friday, July 22, Brazilian director Daniel Bydlowski won two important awards at the 2018 edition of Comic-Con in San Diego, in the United States. His short film “Bullies” won the trophy for best fantasy film and the special award from the jury, which does not have a specific category.
The film, which was based on the director's own life, tells the story of Eugene, a 10-year-old boy who is bullied at school. He finds a hiding place while running away from the children who chased him and sees in this place the solution to his problems. But to do that, he needs to let go of many ______ things he likes.
In addition to winning these awards at Comic-Con, Bydlowski will also take the short to “LA Shorts International Film Festival” (in Portuguese, the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival), which takes place in Hollywood on the 29th July. This festival could take “Bullies” to the 2019 Oscars.
Along with the film, the director and writer also created the “More Entertainment, Less Bullying” campaign, which takes cinema into schools to fight the problem.
