Read:
It has reddish fur, long and narrow wings, perfect for speed and agility in flight. He likes to go out at night and if it comes towards your neck… Know that you must be seeing a mosquito resting on him! The red bat does not have habits similar to those of the protagonist of the story of Count Dracula. Like most bats, he doesn't care about your neck. Their diet is not blood, but insects!
Flies, beetles, termites, moths. Those, yes, must fear the red bat. Their teeth are adapted to break down the exoskeleton, a layer that is on the outside of the insect's body.
As they are active animals at night, bats generally spend the day resting in shelters such as hollows and tree foliage, crevices in rocks and man-made buildings.
The red bat is normally found in small groups of 5 to 20 individuals. In reproduction, the female only generates one offspring per pregnancy, which lasts almost three months, always in spring. Mammals that they are, baby bats of this species suckle from their mother for about two months.
The red bat is very sensitive to changes in the environment caused by man, such as increased pollution, deforestation and the destruction of the forests where it lives. In order to get to know the species even better and so that there is a balance in the food chain, the recovery and protection of the places where it is found are of great importance.
