In fact, the chicken flies, but its flights are low and short, reaching about 10 meters. During the evolution of the species, the chicken was domesticated and lost the need to fly to escape predators; staying on the ground was safe for this bird. Thus, it also does not have very developed pneumatic bones, air sacs and pectoral and wing muscles, which help in the flights of migratory birds, for example.
