Have you ever stopped to think about the various types of houses we can see on a single street? In this “A Rua do Marcelo”, Ruth Rocha tells how she drew with words every detail of the street where her most famous character lives — yes, the one in “Marcelo, quince, hammer”. Houses with a backyard, on two floors (mansions), houses on top of each other (buildings) etc. And not only that: it also talks about the fair. And the garbage man, and the postman, and the fruit man.
It's cool because it gives you a feeling of seeing for the first time something that everyone thought they already knew (the houses, the street, the neighborhood, the city). As if the author wanted to show that, in addition to nature, there is nothing natural in this world. What surrounds us are the constructions of human beings, and that is why it is worth paying attention to what people have done, are doing and will be doing.
