People normally blink about 20 times a minute. The frequency and duration of the action vary according to the general state and mood of each human being. For example, tiredness makes you blink more often.
The act allows a natural cleaning of the eyes: with this process, external agents (dust and other tiny elements) are prevented from coming into direct contact with the cornea. Also, it is extremely important to lubricate the ocular surface.
In front of the television or computer, it is recommended to force the blink, as the brightness of the devices causes the evaporation of the tear fluid. This causes eye muscle strain and difficulty opening and closing, which is called Computer User Vision Syndrome.
