The elephant's trunk has two functions, that of a hand and that of a nose.
The trunk reaches the ground and, at its tip, there are two fingers that allow the elephant to grab the food and bring it to its mouth.
The trunk is an extension of the elephant's nose and upper lip.
It also breathes through its trunk and this makes it possible for it, even with its trunk, to absorb water and then discharge it into the throat and swallow it.
