oscar wilde

Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was born in Dublin on 16 October 1854.

The second of three children, he was raised in a Protestant family (he later converted to the Catholic Church), studied at Portora Royal School of Enniskillen and in the Trinity College Dublin, where he excelled as a Latinist and Hellenist. He later won a scholarship to the Magdalen College Oxford.

Wilde left Oxford in 1878. Just before I won the “Newdigate” prize for the poem “Ravenna”.

He moved to London and began to have a very busy social life, being soon characterized by extravagant attitudes.
