In the middle of the savannah, there was a huge lake, where the cubs cooled off in the late afternoon. Monkeys, hippos and zebras mingled, having fun. Only Gisele, the female hippo, was left out.
“I'm not going to get dirty with this pile of mud and water,” she was saying.
That's because Gisele didn't know how to swim and was ashamed to ask for help to learn. With that, she ended up being alone while the other animals played. Until one day, Lucius the monkey hid behind her and screamed. Gisele was so scared that she fell into the water!
Terrified of not knowing how to swim, Gisele started screaming and pawing the water. Quickly, the animals approached and helped her out of the pond. Lucius approached and apologized for the scare.
- I didn't mean to hurt, I just wanted you to play with us! - he said.
Gisele was very happy to know that she could play with everyone. Over time, she discovered that swimming wasn't as difficult as she thought, and that it was okay that she didn't know how to do something, as she could learn!
