Dona Benta's farm was in a very beautiful place. The house was old-fashioned, with spacious and fresh rooms. There was Dona Benta's room, the biggest of all, and next to Narizinho, who lived with his grandmother. There was also the “quarto do Pedrinho”, who spent his holidays there every year; and Aunt Nastácia's, the house cook and handyman. Emilia and the Viscount had no rooms; they lived in a corner of the office, where the girl's three bookcases and study table were located.
