Tainá (Eunice Baía), an 8-year-old Indian girl, lives in the Amazon with her wise old grandfather Tigê (Ruy Polanah), who teaches the girl the legends and stories of his people. It lives closely with the forest and its animals.
Along adventures full of adventures, she meets the monkey Catu when she saves him from the clutches of Shoba (Alexandre Zacchia), an animal trafficker. Gradually, the young indigenous woman becomes a guardian of the forest. The new little friend becomes her companion after the death of her grandfather. Protected by an amulet left by Tigê, the little girl continues to fight in defense of the jungle.
Pursued by the drug gang, Tainá runs away and ends up meeting the biologist Isabel (Branca Camargo) and her son Joninho (Caio Romei), a ten-year-old boy who reluctantly lives in the jungle. The boy accompanies his mother in her scientific research.
After an initial disagreement, Joninho manages to overcome the limits of a city boy and helps Tainá face the smugglers, who sell animals for genetic research abroad. Together, the two learn to deal with the values of these two worlds: the jungle and the city.
