Botanical gardens aim to educate and make people aware of the importance of preserving the different species of plants that exist on our planet. In addition, they have many other functions: they are sources of leisure for the population, but also places where plant research is carried out. They seek to preserve rare or threatened wild species and play an important role when it is necessary to restore an environment that has been devastated, for keeping specimens of species considered important for the economy or for the ecological balance of a given region. With the information from the herbarium, for example, it is possible to research the species that existed in the place and replant them.
