Before, long before the year 1500, Brazil was called Pindorama and lived in the shade of a thousand palm trees. It was at this time that the Oiti Indian, brave among the bravest, said goodbye to Potira, his wife, and went down the river to fight an enemy tribe. Twelve moons passed without the young warrior returning. And when the certainty came to her that she would never see him again, Potira wept with longing. His tears mixed with the sand on the beach, and Tupã turned them into diamonds. And therein lies the origin of this gemstone. It came from tears of love.
