It is possible to identify them by characteristics such as color and habits.
Dengue has been a reality in Brazil for decades. We already know what the symptoms of the disease are and how to combat the reproduction of the transmitting mosquito, the
Aedes aegypti, but many people still confuse normal mosquitoes with dengue transmitters. The differences are many and easy to identify. To begin with, the dengue mosquito and the mosquito are mosquitoes from different families. While the first is Aedes aegypti, the stilt is the Culex quinquefasciatus. It is possible to identify them both during flight, “in action”, and at rest. Colors are different. The stilt has a uniform brown color and the Aedes aegypti It has a black body with white stripes. The size too: the first measures 3 to 4 millimeters while the second has 5 to 7 millimeters.
The characteristics and flight habits of both are also different. While the mosquito has a slower and noisier flight (generating a hum), the Aedes aegypti it is faster and quieter and usually attacks from 9 am to 1 pm. The mosquitoes, in turn, act at night, from 6 pm.
Another difference is in the sting. The mosquito leaves a small red bump and this mark causes itching. The dengue mosquito, on the other hand, does not leave marks and does not cause itchiness in the bite. […]
Both lay eggs in stagnant water, but the dengue mosquito prefers clean water and deposits eggs in several places individually. The mosquito lays its eggs together, in the form of a raft, in dirty, polluted water.
