One day the Dove saw the Ant fall into a stream. The Ant was struggling in vain to reach the bank, and in pity the Dove dropped a leaf very close to him. Clinging to the leaf, the Ant floated safely to the bank.
Soon after, the Ant saw a man preparing to kill the Dove with a stone. But no sooner had he cast the stone than the Ant stung him in the heel, so that the pain made him miss the mark, and the frightened Dove flew to safety in a distant forest.
