Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis) is a renowned TV presenter. One day, on his way to work, he is kidnapped by aspiring comedian Rupert Pumpkin (Robert De Niro) and his friend Masha (Sandra Bernhard). To escape the situation, Jerry grants Rupert space on his TV show so that he can perform his act.
