Influenza is a disease caused by the Influenza virus, which occurs predominantly in the coldest months of the year. This virus has different types and subtypes that produce the so-called flu or seasonal influenza. The flu starts suddenly and, in most cases, it heals spontaneously, in between seven and ten days. In some situations, complications such as pneumonia and respiratory failure may occur, configuring a condition called Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SRAG). These complications are more common in more vulnerable groups, such as people over 60 years old, children under two years old, pregnant women and people with chronic diseases.
