The edges of its leaves are white with the center in green tones. Hence the name bicolor mint. In addition to flavor, they make a difference in the presentation of a dish.
In general, this plant is cultivated for its aromatic, condiment, ornamental and/or medicinal properties. In the latter case, it is used as an antiseptic, digestive and expectorant. Both here and in Portugal it is known by the name of mint.
But it is worth clarifying: the Lamiaceae family comprises about 200 genera and some 3,200 species, distributed all over the world. In the case of bicolor, it is also known as hairy (due to the texture of its leaves).
