After 8 years holding the position of Santa Claus, Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) is considered the most suitable person for the position. However, he faces problems. In addition to inexplicably losing weight, his son Charlie (Eric Lloyd) joined this year's list of bad boys, who will not receive a present next Christmas. Worried, Scott decides to return home to find out what's going on with Charlie, leaving a replacement in his place. However, shortly after Scott's trip, the temporary Santa begins to take arbitrary measures, which change the definitions of good and bad for the boys. That way, he might end up spoiling Christmas itself.
