Cats' scratches don't transmit rabies, rest assured! Rabies is caused by a virus that spreads in the salivary glands of animals. In other words, this virus depends on saliva to infect other beings.
Scratching is a natural way for cats to keep their claws sharp – and because pussies' claws are dry, they pose no risk. A cat scratch would only be dangerous if the injured part of the skin came into contact with the saliva of an animal contaminated by rabies.
