Hair shedding on dogs and cats is normal - the old hairs fall out so that new ones can emerge. It occurs more often in summer and winter, because of temperature variation. The amount of hair that falls varies according to the breed: long-haired dogs, for example, tend to shed less hair than short-haired ones. The ones that loosen the most are the ones with the most layers of fur, like the German shepherd and the Siberian husky.
But the hair can also fall out from poor nutrition. If your pet's pet food doesn't provide all of the nutrients it needs, the coat can become dull and weak. The ideal is to follow the veterinarian's recommendations when choosing what the animal will eat.
