The Caelidas meteor shower will last until August 15th and will be more intense this Friday (5th). It has been observed throughout Brazil since July 25th, always between midnight and dawn.
In general, meteors enter Earth's atmosphere at a speed of 44.5 kilometers per second (km/s).
According to the teacher. Gabriel Hickel of the Federal University of Itajubá, the rainfall of the Caelids in August was first determined by the studies of the Brazilian Meteor Observation Network (Bramon), which also works with monitoring of meteors.
Bramon's discovery took place in 2017 and was recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the body that coordinates nomenclatures, discoveries and astronomical standards worldwide.
Another meteor shower expected for this month is the well-known Perseids, which peaks at dawn on August 11th and 12th.
