Considered the largest rodent in the world, the capybara is an abundant species in Brazil and is even present in urban areas. What justifies its presence in completely unexpected environments is the fact that it easily adapts to different locations. It is enough to have water and grass so that the animal can live well and peacefully.
The popular name is precisely related to the feeding habits of the species, in Tupi Guarani, “capivara” means “grass eater”. With semiaquatic behavior, the animal was described in 1766 as a kind of pig, and confused many scientists at the time, due to its appearance and size.
Available in:. (With cut and adaptation).
